Sport is not only about working out or exercising. Sport is about passion. Sport is trying to grasp a balance between two very extreme emotions of LOVE and HATRED. Have you ever been in a position whereby the sport that you love most invigorates you so much and yet at the same time you fume uncontrollably at your opponents, your teammates and sometimes even at yourself.

My coach once told me that Floorball is not only about the game on the court. It is about life. We inculcate so many values from playing the sport. Yet at the same time, if we cannot control our emotions and balance our mindset, we will lose control and lose hold of the passion we have for the sport.

I can never imagine living without sports, without Floorball. Training three times a week have become a habitual routine. A happy routine. Something to look forward to when school work gets stressful. The bonus for me is that the special one in my life plays the same sport as me and we play for the same team.

There are times when trainings get mundane, but knowing that your partner/loved one is going to be around gives you the booster. Training together helped us develop our relationship. We understood each other as we became better teammates, understanding the emotions that we go through on the court and it is pretty much what we go through in our everyday lives

us in PERTH on a Floorball tournament trip!

I always believed that a team game starts with the individual play. Every player on the team must have their individual goals that contribute towards the eventual team goal. The feeling of being in a team, playing the sport that we love together is that of pride of deeper emotions that one can never understand unless in the same circumstances.

When all the years have gone by, you keep your medals in the glass casing, admiring them every now and then. What would you have in your mind. You won't remember the goals you scored, nor the temper you threw. You won't remember the matches you played all that well. But you will remember and be thankful for all the friendships that will last till the end. And I will be thankful for the love of my life, who have been a big part of my sporting life as well.

My love for sports have brought me to foreign lands and allowed me to meet opponents who come from different sporting cultures and nations. It has broadened my perspective of life and the most valuable thing that doing sports have taught me is to value and treasure relationships with people, including teammates, coaches and even opponents. In a world that changes far too often, you never know when your opponent will become your teammate.

Sport is not part of living. It is a way of life.

Floorball has brought us together and it has held us together. =D

Happy Early Valentine's Day to you!
